Alfa Giulietta wins 'Auto Europa 2011' Award

Fiat Group Automobiles has secured first place in the contest to win the coveted 'Auto Europa 2011' honours. As a result, UIGA, the Italian Union of Automotive Journalists, awarded the Alfa Romeo Giulietta the ‘Auto Europa 2011’ title, the most important recognition granted by the Italian specialist press.

In attaining this award, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta won first place with 349 points, leading a pack of 40 models including the Citroen DS3 with 300 points, Peugeot RCZ (125), Volvo S60 (122) and the BMW 5-Series (100).

This result augurs well especially in view of the forthcoming Car of the Year 2011 Award were a total of 41 candidates are vying for what is considered as one of the most prestigious awards in the autombile industry. The voting process for this award has two stages, the first one will produce a short list of seven nominees, which will be announced on 2 November whilst the second round will announce the overall winner on November 29th, 2010.

The Alfa Giulietta was unveiled at this year’s 80th International Motor Show in Geneva and its allure lies in the uncanny reinterpretation of the legendary Giulietta of the middle of the last century which has now been revived to reflect the stylistic and technological trends of Alfa Romeo today.

“The new Alfa Giulietta is expected in Malta within the coming two weeks and we will be launching it to the public right away,” announced Francesca Mamo, Managing Director of UCIM Co Ltd, agents and importers of the Alfa Romeo brand in Malta.

“Alfa Giulietta will be joining Alfa MiTo and the Alfa 159, promising to be another jewel in the crown of the Alfa Romeo brand. However nowadays the brand is accessible to an even wider spectrum of customers and their respective budgets thanks to more reachable starting prices and extensive model configuration flexibility and personalisation potential. In Malta, we are more than confident that the Alfa Giulietta will reinforce our aggressive take on a market which is becoming constantly more competitive. We are aware of the affordability thresholds of local customers - the Alfa Giulietta will be meeting those thresholds,” added Ms Mamo.
